What skills do you need to become an effective leader?
• What type of leader do you want to be?
• Effective communication and feedback
• Emotional intelligence and managing conflict
• Owning your career and professional growth
• Elements of successful teams
• Presence and presentation
• Leading in times of change

In 2020, FLEET funded seven members in different roles (PhD students, postdocs and professional staff) to participate in the Women & Leadership Australia Leading Edge Program as part of the Centre’s leadership development initiative.

WLA’s Leading Edge program is a professional development experience for aspiring leaders, comprising online modules and face-to-face workshops where participants learned leadership skills and techniques to aid in their future careers.

Participants completed a workplace project, identifying something in their work they could improve upon, and carried this out as part of their training, including working in coach-coachee partnerships, learning techniques for mentoring, listening and questioning.
