The global FLEET network consists of dedicated staff and students working to deliver the Centre’s mission: reduce the energy used by electronics!

  • Innovate to enable new discoveries at the scientific frontier with novel materials, processes, devices and the network to commercialise them
  • Collaborate to build international research partnerships and links with industry
  • Engage to train next generation of science leaders, increase equity in STEM and raise public awareness of science literacy

FLEET is led and directed by ARC Laureate Fellow Prof. Michael Fuhrer, supported by an Executive Committee comprising of Research Theme leaders, Enabling Technology Theme leaders, Chief Operating Officer and chairs of our five Strategic Governance Committees.

The Executive committee takes recommendations from the Advisory Committee for management advice and International Scientific Advisory Committee for scientific standing and directions.

FLEET Governance Structure

FLEET Executive Committee coordinates research and operations across the seven nodes to ensure that the Centre’s research is meeting its KPIs. The team meets twice yearly to discuss budgets, personnel and performance targets, with monthly updates via teleconference.

FLEET Advisory Committee assists the Executive team in developing strategic plans for FLEET in order to meet its goals, in particular in creating linkages with industry, academia, and government. The Advisory Committee meets yearly with the Executive Team to review progress in the Centre, producing a report of strengths, weaknesses and opportunities. The Executive Team will use the recommendations of the Advisory Committee to create an Annual Operating Plan with budget and performance targets.

FLEET also has an International Scientific Advisory Committee (ISAC) to advise on the scientific directions of FLEET and benchmark the quality of the research against international standards. The ISAC meets yearly with the Executive Team for a briefing on the scientific progress and future scientific plans of FLEET, and produces a yearly report placing FLEET’s progress in the international context and making recommendations for future directions.

In addition, FLEET has five Strategic Governance Committees formed with the goal to carry out the Centre’s Strategic plans. Click on the chart below to see members in each committee.
