Open access publishing

Opportunities to publish in a range of open access journals without incurring the additional fees is now possible thanks to an agreement negotiated by the Council of Australian University Librarians (CAUL) whereby article processing charges are not incurred by the author.

All seven FLEET node universities have signed up to the agreement and participating publishers/journals can be found on the CAUL website. All FLEET members are encouraged to access the new Read &Publish agreements and specify the intention at the time of submission.

It is also important to note the ARC has introduced a funding requirement to publish research outputs in Open Access journals. The CAUL agreement makes it much easier and financially feasible to comply. If Open Access is not possible, please ensure a copy of the Accepted Manuscript (AM) or pre-print is published into a repository such as arXiv as per each journals copyright conditions.

Thanks to Tenille Ibbotson for all the hard work involved in incorporating Open Access into FLEET processes.
