FLEET is pleased to announce that Dr Torben Daeneke is now a Chief Investigator in FLEET.

As a Scientific Associate Investigator in FLEET (RMIT node) since the outset of the Centre, Torben and has been a prodigious contributor to FLEET’s research effort as well as FLEET’s governance.

“I welcome the opportunity to become a FLEET Chief Investigator,” says Torben. “I look forward to continuing my research into improved 2D materials and techniques, developing semiconductor and insulating materials and advanced methods towards Centre goals, as well as taking on new responsibilities with other FLEET CIs towards the Centre’s milestones.”

Torben has co-authored 38 FLEET publications. His breakthrough works on the use of liquid metals to synthesize novel two-dimensional oxide nanosheets are a major outcome of FLEET’s program and have resulted in a spin-off company Liquid Metal Plus to translate the research.

Torben has also served very effectively as the Chair (past) and co-Chair (present) of FLEET’s Industry Relations Committee, and is a member of FLEET’s Executive Committee.

Being intimately familiar with FLEET’s research program at the RMIT node, Torben will continue to oversee the research on magnetic 2D materials and heterostructures at RMIT, enabling FLEET to accomplish our research mission.
