Monash: Dissipation in Floquet system

Application close 24 September 2017

We are seeking a postdoctoral fellow with significant experience in all aspects of cold atom experiments. The fellow will study Floquet topological states in non-equilibrium ultracold atomic gases and the protection of such states from dissipation. The non-equilibrium atomic systems to be investigated include the quantum delta-kicked rotor and atoms in periodically modulated optical lattices. A PhD in experimental physics or a relevant field with experience in optics and stabilised laser systems is required. Research experience in ultracold atomic gases is highly desirable. The fellow will be working with Prof. Kristian Helmerson at Monash University based in Melbourne. We are looking for:

  • PhD in Physics or relevant field
  • Experience with optics and stabilised lasers
  • Experience with ultracold atom experiments
  • Demonstrated high standard of interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary environment.
