Proudly brought to you by the FLEET ECRs and students working group, this 1.5 days workshop will focus on topics ranging from article writing to profile building. The event will take place on 19th and 20th October 2023 in person at UNSW Sydney and online. Venue: Room 105 of Mathews Building (F23), level 1, Library Walk, UNSW Sydney. He has extensive experience in Career Coaching and has held leadership roles at universities, including Monash, Swinburne, and Melbourne. In this session, we will discuss tips for securing employment after a PhD, how to access the hidden job market, how to create an impressive LinkedIn profile, and customising CVs for academia vs. the private sector.

Dr. Cally Guerin, a research writing expert and founding co-editor of the Doctoral Writing blog, unveils the strategies of navigating the academic journal submission process and crafting a stand-out paper amidst a sea of paper submissions.

11:00 - 12:30PMCommunicating your research effectively Dr Suzie Sheehy has extensive experience with presenting and public speaking, including a Ted talk and four seasons of appearances on Impossible Engineering. But science communication is not just for science communicators. In this session, we talk about effectively conveying research, utilising pre-presentation fear for good, and how bolstering these skills will lead to more proactive interactions and future opportunities.
